Do I need a referral from a doctor to be admitted?

No. iRecover US does not require a referral from a physician at any time. You can contact us directly — the only requirement is the desire to change your life. We are a rapid access facility, meaning you can be admitted in most cases within 24 hours of calling.

Is there a waiting list?

At this time we have no waiting list. In most cases you can access our service within 24 hours of calling. We are a rapid access facility — your recovery should not have to wait.

Do I need to already be sober before entering treatment?

No. If you are actively using, we have a medically supervised detox program to help you through withdrawal safely before beginning the residential treatment program. You can come to us exactly as you are.

What if I only want to do detox and not the full program?

You can certainly do detox only. However, we strongly recommend combining detox with immediate access to our treatment program. Detox alone addresses the physical withdrawal, but without structured treatment the risk of relapse is significantly higher. Our team will discuss the best options for your situation when you call.

How quickly can I be admitted?

In most cases, you can be admitted within 24 hours of your initial call. Call us at 1-888-357-7121 and our admissions team will guide you through the process and arrange everything on your behalf.

Treatment programs

Do you offer medically assisted detox?

Yes. We have an on-site detox unit at our Howard, SD facility where we facilitate medically supervised detox for all arriving participants. Our nursing staff are available around the clock to monitor and support you through withdrawal.

How long is the residential treatment program?

We offer both 4-week and 8-week programs. The first four weeks are built around our 12-step residential program. Weeks 5–8 incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can be completed on-site or through our outpatient program in Sioux Falls. The right length of stay depends on your individual needs and will be discussed during your assessment.

Do you treat alcohol addiction?

Yes. We provide a full range of services for people suffering from alcohol dependence, including medically supervised detox, residential treatment, and outpatient support.

Do you treat drug addiction?

Yes. We provide a full range of services for people suffering from drug dependence, including opioids (fentanyl, heroin, oxycodone), stimulants (cocaine, methamphetamine), benzodiazepines, cannabis, hallucinogens, and more. Participants are often treated for multiple addictions concurrently.

Do you treat behavioral addictions like gambling or pornography?

Yes. We can work with any process addiction including gambling, video games, pornography, and other compulsive behavioral disorders that are disrupting daily life and relationships.

What is the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

Our Intensive Outpatient Program is based at our Sioux Falls centre. It allows participants to receive structured addiction treatment — including group therapy, individual counseling, and CBT — while continuing to live at home. It is ideal as a step-down after completing residential treatment in Howard, or as a primary treatment option for those whose circumstances allow.

Are you an accredited facility?

Yes. iRecover US is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and licensed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services. These accreditations reflect our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care.

Costs & coverage

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept all major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Medicaid. Our admissions team will verify your insurance benefits at no cost to you before you make any decisions.

Do you accept Medicaid?

Yes, we accept Medicaid.

Do you accept Medicare?

Unfortunately Medicare is one of the very few coverages we are not able to accept at this time. Please call us to discuss alternative funding options.

What if I don't have insurance?

We accept a number of self-pay options and work with various funding sources including Tribal funding and Hutterite Colony support. Whatever your situation, we are willing to work with you around payment and funding options. Please call us at 1-888-357-7121 to discuss.

Life at iRecover

Do I get my own bedroom?

Yes. We have single occupancy rooms for our first 24 participants. If we have more than 24 participants, rooms will have no more than two participants sharing them.

Do I have my own bathroom?

Yes. Each room, whether single or double occupancy, has its own ensuite bathroom.

Can I use my phone or devices during treatment?

During detox and the first week of treatment, participants are not allowed to make phone calls and personal phones or internet-capable devices are not permitted. This period allows you to focus entirely on your recovery without outside distractions. After the initial period, contact with family is phased back in appropriately.

Can I bring my prescription medications?

Yes. You may bring your prescription medications. A nurse will review all medications with you at admission. All prescriptions must be current, your name must be on the label, and there should be no more than the prescribed amount in the bottle. Prescriptions are filled at a local pharmacy and kept in the medication room for the duration of your stay.

Is the facility adults-only?

Yes. iRecover US is an adult-only, co-ed facility.

Supporting loved ones

Can my family visit me while I'm in treatment?

Yes. After completing your first week of program work, your family can visit on Sundays between noon and 5pm. This initial period without visits allows you to settle in, focus on your recovery, and build your foundation before reconnecting with loved ones.

My loved one won't admit they have a problem. Can you still help?

Absolutely. Call us and speak with our admissions team — we can advise you on how to approach the conversation with your loved one and what options are available. You don't have to wait until they agree to seek help before reaching out to us.

Is there support for families of participants?

Yes. Our aftercare program includes family education and support, helping loved ones understand addiction and recovery and how best to support their family member at home. We also support our alumni families so they never need to feel like they are doing this alone.

What is the Lifetime Aftercare Program?

Upon successful completion of our program, every graduate receives lifetime access to our aftercare program. This means you can contact iRecover at any time — even years after graduation — for support, encouragement, or if you feel at risk of relapse. We also maintain an Alumni Group for ongoing peer connection and accountability.
